About Yoon-Kyo An

Dr Yoon An is a gastroenterologist and endoscopist who combines public and private practices at Mater Hospital Brisbane, Mater Private Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Redland. She is also the clinical lead of the IBD clinical trials unit at Mater Research and holds an associate lecturer position at the University of Queensland.

Dr Yoon An completed her Medical Science degree (BMedSc) at the University of Sydney and her Medical degree (MBBS) at the University of Queensland. She undertook her physician and advanced gastroenterology training at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and Mater Hospital Brisbane. She completed a clinical and research fellowship in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at Mater Hospital Brisbane and is currently pursuing a PhD through the University of Queensland and a MBA through Griffith University.

She is an active IBD clinician and researcher and is involved in multiple investigator initiated and sponsored clinical trials. Her own research focusses on real-world effectiveness of biologic therapy in IBD and the use of intestinal ultrasound in IBD. She is also involved multiple medical organisations locally and globally as an executive committee member. 

She provides consultation services in general gastroenterology with a keen interest in gut inflammation, together with endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures including bowel cancer and gastric cancer screening. She is also fully accredited in capsule endoscopy and intestinal ultrasound. In addition to English, she is also fluent in Korean.
