Her particular clinical expertise is management of children with inflammatory bowel disease, liver diseases and complex gastrointestinal problems.
Fariha is pleased to commence private practice at Bridges health at Mater medical centre to provide a highly specialised consultation service to local paediatricians and general practitioners.
Dr. Fariha Balouch graduated from Allama Iqbal Medical College, University of Punjab in Lahore, a prestigious institute in Pakistan. She undertook general paediatric training in University teaching hospitals in Pakistan, Oman then Australia and completed Paediatric Gastroenterology training at the Royal Children’s Hospital Brisbane now called the Children’s Hospital Queensland (QCH). QCH provides high-level specialist paediatric gastroenterology services for Queensland.
At completion of her training she was offered a position at QCH as a clinical lead in Liver Transplant and as a senior member of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) service. She has interests in research and education. She is Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. Fariha represents Queensland and Australia on the international Consortium of Study of Paediatric Liver Transplantation (SPLIT).
