Dr Robert Gilmore is a respected Gastroenterologist with a strong focus on patient-centered care.
He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Glasgow, Scotland in 2014. After training in the National Health Service, he moved to Australia and undertook advanced gastroenterology training in Melbourne. He has had the privilege of completing clinical and research fellowships in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Glasgow, Austin Health Melbourne and Mater Hospital Brisbane, before being awarded Fellowship from the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2023.
Dr Gilmore is pursuing a PhD in the real-world application of novel therapies for IBD at the University of Queensland, where he holds a fellow and lecturer position. He combines public and private practice at Mater Hospital Brisbane and Mater Private Hospital Brisbane.
Dr Gilmore is an active clinician and researcher, as well as a patient advocate, and is involved in multiple investigator-initiated and sponsored clinical trials. He is passionate about empowering patients to engage with and lead their own healthcare journey, by providing consultation services in general gastroenterology with a keen interest in gut inflammation, together with endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures including bowel cancer and gastric cancer screening. He is accredited in intestinal ultrasound as a member of the Gastroenterology Network for Intestinal Ultrasound (GENIUS).
