Dr Marianne Mortimore is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland who was Director of Gastroenterology at Mater Hospital in Brisbane from 2013 to 2021. In this time the unit developed as an integrated facility for clinical care, research, and teaching of medical students, junior doctors, fellowship trainees and the interdisciplinary team. Her clinical expertise includes general gastroenterology and endoscopy including bowel cancer screening and colonoscopy and management of inflammatory bowel diseases with patient access to clinical trials where appropriate. A diagnostic service with direct access to endoscopy is available for suitable patients at the request of general practitioners.
Her clinical practice in the private sector has included 6 years working with Colorectal Diagnostics providing expertise in the investigation and management of pelvic floor disorders which may be contributing to patient symptoms.
Dr Mortimore has worked in Private Practice at Bridges Health Services in South Brisbane since 2019 and sees patients in Brisbane, Cleveland and more remote locations by Telehealth. She aims to work with patients and their general practitioners to effect holistic and integrated management of gastrointestinal conditions with an inter-disciplinary approach as required. In working with patients across the spectrum of age including young adults she became interested in how clinicians can best collaborate with their patients for a patient centred approach that improves health outcomes.
