About Dr Heidi Peverill

Dr Heidi Peverill is a specialist breast, oncoplastic and melanoma surgeon. After completing her medical training at Monash University and graduating with honours, she undertook specialist training to become fully qualified in oncoplastic breast surgery. She has also studied her Masters of Advanced Breast Surgery and has been a full member of BreastSurg ANZ since 2013.

As a member of both the RACS Younger Fellows committee and Women in Surgery section, Dr Peverill supports and advocates for progression opportunities for both young surgeons and women in medicine.

In addition to her advocacy, Dr Peverill is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of surgeons. Through her role as a senior instructor and clinical tutor for students at UQ, she instructs medical students and helps them progress into the medical environment.

Dr Peverill also serves as a national committee member and senior instructor for the Care of the Critically Ill Surgical Patient Curriculum, a program which teaches doctors how to recognise and manage at-risk patients.

She supports these programs in tandem with her own research in breast cancer prevention in young women.

Dr Peverill is currently publicly employed at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Breast Unit, where she helped establish its first breast reconstruction clinic for breast cancer patients, and previously at Redlands Public Hospital, where she helped establish its first breast service. Privately, she can be seen through Bridges Health, Mater Medical Centre in South Brisbane and at Mater Private Hospital Redland.

Outside of work, Dr Peverill enjoys spending time with her husband Michael, their young daughter, and their two dogs.
